PPC Leader Wooing Voters in CK

Maxime Bernier made campaign stops in Chatham, Wallaceburg, Sarnia, and Strathroy this week as he criss-crosses Ontario ahead of the Oct 21st federal election.

Bernier says his People’s Party of Canada is built on policy, and has a very ‘like it or leave it’ approach.

“We don’t pander to any religious groups or we don’t pander to any region in this country, our platform, our policies are for all Canadian,” Bernier says. “For me, if you’re a Canadian from Chinese origin, you’re not a Chinese-Canadian, you’re Canadian first.”

Bernier touched on a number of issues during his hour-long address, including increased autonomy for First Nations, ending supply management, and reducing immigration.

Bill Young was one of about 75 potential voters who came out to the Wallaceburg Legion, and says he likes what he heard.

“I think with his platform, without looking at the entire package, he’s got a good vision in this country and I think that he’ll make great inroads,” Young says. “Might not win, but make people think, and that’s what it’s all about today.”
