Preaching ATV Safety

The Chatham-Kent OPP have teamed up with the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village and law enforcement officials from New Mexico to promote All-Terrain Vehicle safety.

This week they will launch an ATV simulator to show the dangers associated with the vehicles.

The simulator was built locally by MPT Technologies, and Applied Industrial Technologies and will be unveiled Wednesday at the Safety Village, coinciding with Farm Safety Day.

It can be used for hands-on training for local emergency services, but also used at public events to show and teach kids and their parents.

Authorities stress ATVs are not toys, and parents are encouraged to sign their kids up for ATV safety classes.

Theses 4 hour session focuses on safe driving techniques and Ontario laws governing ATVs.
