File photo.

Pointing out Chatham-Kent has already faced several major natural disasters this year including the water ice, snow, and wind,  Fire and Emergency services is holding Emergency Preparedness week.

It’s to make sure that you and your family are prepared for any situation that might pop up, and are able to reduce the risk and impact on our families.

CKFES will be visiting the local high schools this week  to teach the importance of having a 72 hour emergency kit.

First and foremost it is important to know the risks associated with what ever disaster we are facing.

You will need to include basic staples like food, water and medications to make sure you are self sufficient for 72 hours.

Make the plan and then test the plan to insure your success.

They say by following these few simple steps you can become better prepared to face a myriad of emergencies.
