Medications can be brought to Shoppers’ Drug Mart in Wallaceburg and Tilbury, and the Chatham-Kent Criminal Court House at 425 Grand Ave West in Chatham.
According to the Government of Canada, medications should not be thrown out in the garbage or flushed down the toilet. Their website states,
Due to improper disposal of these drugs, there are traces of pharmaceuticals in the environment–in the soil and in the water. Concentration levels of these products may be very low. But they may be enough to have adverse effects on the environment and on human health. Effects can also build up over time.
Storing them for long periods of time can also lead to their potential misuse or abuse.
Bringing old and unused medications to take back programs can protect yourself, others, and the environment.
