Preventing Overdoses in CK

Opioid use is on the rise, and to help combat the illegal use of the drug, the Chatham-Kent Drug Awareness Council is hosting a pair of naloxone training sessions today.

Naloxone is used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

If you want to take part, the two sessions are at 1 and 2pm at Studio One at the Chatham Cultural Centre, no questions asked, no ID required.

Chatham-Kent had 71 emergency department admissions due to opioid poisoning last year, and more than 300 naloxone kits handed out this year.

A memorial event will also be held at 7pm in Studio One.
