Prices Increase As CK Makes Changes To Transit Passes

Residents utilizing public transit in Chatham-Kent will see a slight increase in their fares starting this summer.

Beginning on July 1, there will be a small increase from $2 to $2.16 on buses in Chatham and Wallaceburg using a Cash Pass on their smart card. The rate for inter-urban routes will remain the same at $4.06.

For riders using exact cash, the fare for urban travel in Chatham and Wallaceburg will be held at $2.50 and $5 for inter-urban travel within the municipality. The cost will be identical for Chatham Accessible and Wallaceburg Accessible specialized urban transit services.

There will also be a price increase for the 30-Day Urban Pass. Adults will see the cost rise from $75 to $78.23, while seniors 65 and old and students under 18 will see an increase from $60 to $61.47.

Local University and college students will also have to pay a little more to ride the bus. The Semester Pass for students at St. Clair College and the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus will jump from $120 to $156.46 per semester.

Fares for children five years and under will now be free with a paying passenger on any Ride CK service.

Anyone who would like to purchase or reload a smart card can do so at any municipal centre or online at www.rideck.ca.
