Pride Celebrates Strides

Chatham-Kent has come a long way when it comes to acceptance and inclusiveness. That’s according to Marianne Wilson, Vice President and Chair of the CK Gay Pride Association.

“I think that in the last 10 years has come the most significant change and certainly in the last two years we’ve seen an ever greater change. And I think that’s because people are ready to embrace new ideas and the community as a whole,” says Wilson. “We will continue to focus on community events and bringing conversation forward about diversity and inclusiveness. We’d like to bea regular group that is seen and experienced in the community so we can be fully integrated into all aspects of Chatham-Kent.”

Wilson says the Association has been invited to take part in a series of discussions hosted by a pair of local churches. Wilson will be speaking at the Open Hearts event on May 14th about how to make the community more welcoming of LGBTQ+ members. More details can be found here.
