Prohibited Driver Arrested On Outstanding Warrant

A Chatham man will be without his vehicle for more than a month after being stopped by police.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers pulled a vehicle over for a routine traffic stop on Tuesday at around 9:30 p.m.

Authorities said the officers identified the driver and learned that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court and that he had been prohibited from driving in Canada.

As a result, a 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and additionally charged with driving while prohibited. He was later released from custody with a September court date.

The man’s vehicle was also towed from the scene and will impounded for 45 days.
