Project Leader Announced For New Children’s Treatment Centre Facility

Concept design for the new Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent.

The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent continues to make headway toward the construction of a new facility.

According to the treatment centre, Colliers Project Leaders has accepted the role of project management lead for the capital building project. Colliers operates out of London and has managed other Children Treatment Centre capital projects in the past.

“To ensure this project continues to move forward, it is important that we have a strong team of individuals working with us,” said Donna Litwin-Makey, the centre’s executive director, in a news release. “Adding a project manager to our team enables us to have a strong project plan in place and fulfill our commitment to the community.”

The treatment centre’s new 55,000 square foot building, which has been in the planning stages since 2017, will be located on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham. Once completed, the new facility will provide additional space to reduce wait times for rehabilitation services such as speech therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and autism services.

“This is an exciting project for Chatham-Kent, and with this comes great expectations from the community, children and youth, their families, staff and the public for a successful delivery of the project,” said Angela Strazzeri, the project manager lead with Colliers. “Colliers is delighted to be the partner who helps make this happen.”

Earlier this month, the Ontario government reaffirmed its commitment of $842,525, to be used toward the building in 2022.

The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent currently provides services to more than 3,500 children and youth with special needs.
