Millions of dollars of provincial funding is being pumped into local hospitals.
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton announced just over $1.9 million is going to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance from the province’s Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund. The funds are earmarked for renovations to expand ambulatory care services.
Through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund, additional resources will be provided to the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres ($65,201), the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor Essex County Branch ($266,183), the Mental Health Consumer Survivor Employment Association of Essex County ($88,525), the Westover Treatment Centre ($78,890) and the Charity House in Windsor ($31,378) to support infrastructure projects that improve the recipient organizations’ facilities and operations.
“Upgrading and maintaining hospitals and community health infrastructure is one more way our government is ensuring the people of Ontario receive the exceptional care when they need it and closer to home,” says Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “These crucial investments will help build the capacity needed to end hallway health care while ensuring our hospitals have the tools they need to improve the quality of care for patients and continue responding to COVID-19.”
In all, $7.1 million was announced today for hospitals and health care services across the riding of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
More to come.
