Province Eying Tighter Restrictions, But Not a Curfew

New restrictions are likely coming for Ontarians as the government tries to reign in COVID numbers, but a province-wide curfew won’t be one of them.

Reports say the idea of a curfew, similar to what Quebec has done to limit social gatherings in the evening, has been discounted by public health officials.

Premier Doug Ford has been issuing dire warnings for the last several days with new modelling data expected to be released today, saying “extreme measures” were needed to keep COVID in check.

Sources say the data will show new growth could reach 6000 new infections a day by the end of the month without tighter public health measures.

The province announced 3338 new infections on Monday along with 39 additional deaths.

In Chatham-Kent, there are currently 128 active cases and 13 outbreaks.
