Province Investing Nearly $2-mill in SDH

sydenham-campus-wallaceburg-1The Ontario government is investing $1,883,930 into the Sydenham District Hospital as part of the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund.

This is part of $175-million that the province is investing in Ontario hospitals.

The funds will be used to repair and upgrade hospital facilities in Wallaceburg, including windows, heating and cooling systems, fire alarms, back-up generators, and other upgrades.

The Chatham Campus is set to receive $643,722, earmarked for electrical upgrades.

CKHA Chief Financial Officer Jerome Quenneville says the province requires that the funds be spent by the end of this coming March.

“We have the green light now to spend the funds,” Quenneville says. “We have a long list of needs, so it’s great to see that money is flowing in locally so we can start resolving some of these higher concerns for the facilities.”

Bluewater Health in Sarnia is receiving $1,209,226, and Windsor Regional Hospital will get $714,137.
