Province To Ban Cannabis Cultivation In Childcare Spaces

The Ontario government is proposing changes to legislation that will help keep cannabis away from children and combat the illegal cannabis market.

The province said it plans to make changes to the Cannabis Licence Act that, if passed, would ban the cultivation of recreational cannabis in homes that offer childcare services.

As well, the government intends to amend the act to increase the number of stores that licensed retail operators and their affiliates can operate from 75 to 150.

Provincial officials are also looking into different enforcement options against illegal online cannabis sales.
