Provincial Funding Supports Wallaceburg’s Fairfield Park

A local long term care facility will be able to better support its residents, thanks to recently announced provincial funding.

The Ontario government is investing $35 million to help long-term care homes across the province support residents with complex needs.

Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg is set to receive $41,756.49 through the province’s Local Priorities Fund.

“Thanks to the LPF, long-term care homes in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex are equipped to care for our loved ones,” said LKM MPP Steve Pinsonneault in a news release. “Specialized equipment and services mean that long-term care home residents can get the care they need without the stress of a trip to the hospital.”

The money is earmarked for specialized equipment, such as IV equipment, bed support, bladder scanners, and ECGs, as well as everyday items like slip-proof floor mats, wraparound bed rails, and grab bars.

Officials say the new equipment, along with staff training and innovative care programs, make it easier for homes to care for seniors with conditions like dementia, mobility challenges, and chronic illnesses.
