Public Invited To Final Meeting On Ward Boundary Changes

Local residents will have one last opportunity to provide feedback on options for restructuring Chatham-Kent’s ward boundaries and council composition.

The public is invited to take part in a public engagement session on November 25 at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre at 6 p.m. The in-person meeting will include a presentation, followed by allotted time for public deputations. The meeting will also be live-streamed on the municipality’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

A previous public engagement session was also held on November 14.

As well, an online survey on the potential ward and council options was launched online earlier this month. The survey will remain open until November 29 and can be found by clicking here.

Consulting firm StrategyCorp has drafted seven options for adjusting the size of council and the existing ward boundaries. According to the firm, each option was designed with effective representation in mind by examining the current population in each ward and the projected population growth over the next five years.

StrategyCorp is expected to return to council on December 16 with a final report that will include public comments and a recommendation for council consideration.
