Chatham-Kent is seeking public input on how the municipality should invest in development and infrastructure over the next 25 years.

A public open house will be held on April 30 at the Civic Centre in Chatham to help inform Chatham-Kent’s new Official Plan.

The open house will also provide the public with a review of growth and development options for the municipality. It will also explore expanding urban areas in key communities and strengthening Chatham-Kent’s position in the Highway 401 business corridor.

Based on 2023 projections, municipal officials expect Chatham-Kent’s population to grow to 122,200 residents by 2051, which will require more than 8,200 new homes.

The open house will run from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
