Public to Help Guide Neighbourhood Improvement Projects

A series of public meetings is being held this month to help guide an environmentally-based neighbourhood improvement program.

Earlier this year, the municipality’s Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program (SNAP) was selected to receive $385,000 in funding from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation & Parks for projects in Wallaceburg, Thamesville, and Wheatley.

SNAP is delivered in partnership with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority. The voluntary and collaborative program supports existing neighbourhoods by bringing residents and the Municipality together to make neighbourhoods greener, healthier, and more prepared for climate change.

Following a session in Thamesville on Tuesday night, public drop-in style meetings are also being held at the Wallaceburg Municipal Centre this Thursday, August 14, and Wheatley at the Village Resource Centre next Thursday, August 21. Both meetings are set to run from 5:30-8pm.

Officials say attendees will have a chance to learn more about the SNAP program, identify opportunities in their respective neighbourhoods, and express any interest in projects on their own property.
