Queen Since 1952

Queen ElizabethToday is Queen Elizabeth II’s 9oth birthday.

Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary celebrates her birthday.  Many will not know of the many things that Queen Elizabeth did for Canada.

Elizabeth took the throne in 1952, when she was only 26 and is the longest serving monarch in history.

The Queen is more than just a picture on the $20 bill, she was actually on the $1 bill as well, back when we actually HAD a $1 bill.

It was Queen Elizabeth who had to ink the deal to change the Dominion of Canada to just Canada, as well as approved our national Anthem.

O Canada was not the official National Anthem until 1980, before that it was God Save The Queen.

Elizabeth also approved Canada’s Flag in 1965.

Queen Elizabeth was the first to be officially sworn in as the Queen of Canada.

The Queen has personally met with every Prime Minister since  her coronation and will continue that tradition when she meets with Justin Trudeau.
