Registration is on for the Queen and Princess of the Furrow competitions.
Organizer Stephanie Campbell says it’s open to girls ages 11 through 23.
“For both of the competitions, they are required to interview with the panel of three judges, give a 1-2 minute speech for the princesses and a 2-3 minute speech for the queen contestants,” Campbell explains. “The queens are also given a chance to plow with a coach, and equipment is provided for them.”
Campbell says contestants don’t need to have an agricultural background to compete.
The competition will take place at the Chatham-Kent Plowing Match on August 11th.
The winners will represent the Chatham-Kent Plowmen’s Association at local events throughout the year, attend the Ontario Plowmen’s Association annual convention, and compete at the 2019 International Plowing Match in Verner, West Nippising.
