Queens Line Crash Claims Two Lives

A tragic start to the RetroFest weekend in Chatham.

Emergency crews responded to a four-vehicle collision on Queens Line at Dillon Road, as the classic car cruise was making its way west around 7pm Friday evening.

According to Chatham-Kent Police say a 27-year-old Windsor man was driving east when he collided with a westbound pickup truck. The man’s vehicle then struck an older-model Buick containing five occupants, which was directly behind the pickup.

A fourth vehicle was indirectly involved when it veered off the roadway to avoid the collision.

Two occupants of the Buick were pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupants were taken to hospital in Chatham with non life-threatening injuries.

Out of respect for the families, no names are being released at this point.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Constable Josh Flickweert at 519-355-1092 or email joshuaf@chatham-kent.ca.
