Recognition Awards To Celebrate And Thank Local Volunteers

Mayor Darrin Canniff announcing the 2023 recipients of the Community Recognition Awards.

A group of more than 30 local residents will be honoured for having a significant impact on the community as part of a new initiative.

In a partnership between the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and CN Railway, the Community Recognition Awards Program will recognize 28 people and a local family at an event on May 31, sharing stories of volunteerism, community leadership, and innovation.

“Our community is fortunate to have an incredible network of volunteers who work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of our residents,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff in a news release.

The individuals were selected by members of council as a way to acknowledge their hard work and dedication in Chatham-Kent

“The Community Recognition Awards are a way for us to celebrate and thank these unsung heroes for their selfless contributions,” said Canniff. “It is important we recognize the invaluable work of these individuals and groups and showcase the impact they have on our community.”

Residents are encouraged to contact their councillor if they know a person or a group that they believe is deserving of recognition next year.
