‘Red Tape’ Open House Next Week

The Municipality is hoping to gain some feedback from the public about ‘red tape’.

The Community Development department has been working on a new initiative called the Continuous Improvement and Red Tape Reduction project since last summer, and they’re looking at how they can improve processes in their various divisions.

These include Building Development, Planning, Economic Development, and Legal Services.

An open engagement session is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12th at 5pm at the Civic Centre, where officials will make a presentation about the project, and ways they’ve been addressing red tape so far.

“We are looking forward to hearing directly from the community and having their input on what has been achieved so far, and the next steps to be taken,” said John Norton, General Manager, Community Development. “There has already been some excellent information collected through our online survey, and this event will provide another platform to discuss ideas in greater detail.”

Norton added, “Ultimately our goal is to make it even easier for people and businesses to invest in Chatham-Kent.”

A survey is also available online for anyone wishing to share their thoughts and concerns.

Anyone interested in attending can register online, though registration is not required.

Following the presentations, there will be a facilitated engagement session to collect questions, feedback, and comments regarding additional opportunities for reducing red tape. Included as part of the facilitated discussion, members of the public are invited to make a formal deputation. This can be done by contacting Jenn Wiseman at 519-360-1998 x3801 or email at JenniferW@chatham-kent.ca.
