Registration Opens for CK Agri-food Health and Safety Webinar

A special online seminar is being held on Monday, focusing on health and safety in the agri-food business.

The series was launched by the Ministry of Labour and OMAFRA last month with a goal of sharing information on how to better protect workers’ health and safety and prevent any future outbreaks of COVID-19.

The 2021 growing season is already underway in some parts of the agri-food industry and temporary foreign agricultural workers have started to arrive in Ontario. Government officials say as many as 20,000 migrant workers will be calling Chatham-Kent home over the growing season. The information session is billed as helping farmers and operators enhance health and safety requirements and apply best practices in their operations.

“I know farmers and agri-food operators care deeply about their workers’ health and safety,” said Ernie Hardeman, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.  “There’s an abundance of resources and information out there and these sessions will help each farmer and agri-food business in their ongoing efforts to improve their own workplaces to protect their workers.”

A webinar focusing on Chatham-Kent, Leamington, Sarnia, and Lambton County will be held Monday afternoon, starting at 3:45.
