Two people are facing assault charges following a domestic incident in Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a home in the northeast area of town at around 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday after an argument turned violent due to the breakdown of a relationship.

A 73-year-old Wallaceburg woman, who was located outside of the home when officers arrived, was arrested. She is now charged with two counts of assault.

A 78-year-old Wallaceburg man, who was found by police inside the home with another woman, was also arrested. He is charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm through choking, suffocation or strangling.

Both suspects have since been released from custody and will answer the charges in court next month.
