A local man has been charged after allegedly making several frivolous 911 calls in the same day.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the man allegedly called 911 four times without a valid emergency between 8:45 p.m. and 11 p.m. on April 1.

The caller became uncooperative with officers over the phone who warned him that continued calls could result in charges. However, police received a 911 call from the same man on Monday just after 11 p.m.

As a result, a 42-year-old Blenheim man was located on Grand Avenue West in Chatham on April 7. He is now charged with one count of public mischief and has since been released with a May court date.

CK police are reminding the public that calls to 911  should only be made for emergency situations.
