Reporting Minor Crimes Can be Key for Police

Chatham-Kent Police are reminding everyone about their online crime reporting system.

Launched a few years ago, Constable Renee Cowell says it’s designed to allow the public to make police aware of minor crimes or thefts without having to make a call.

“We do have a list of incidents that can be reported online,” Cowell explains. “However, if you have suspect information or there’s evidence left at the scene we ask that you call us so an officer can attend.”

That list includes mischief to property or a vehicle, theft under $5000 from a vehicle.

This system will generate a printable report for insurance purposes.

You can find the reporting page on the Chatham-Kent Police website.
