Respiratory Illness Reporting System Now Available Online

A new online tool designed to inform the public about current respiratory illness activity in the community is now operational.

Recently launched by Chatham-Kent Public Health, the 2023/24 Seasonal Respiratory Surveillance Bulletin will post updates about respiratory and enteric illness activity in Chatham-Kent each Friday until April.

Each bulletin will highlight the current levels of respiratory virus activity based on local trends in hospitals, which will reflect the most surveillance week.

The bulletins will also include the most recent influenza and COVID-19 case counts, positivity percentages, and respiratory illness outbreaks in local long-term care, retirement, and hospital facilities.

According to the most recent report covering the week from October 29 to November 4, 2023, COVID-19 has a 33.3% positivity rate in Chatham-Kent, with no data available for Influenza A or B. There were no new institutional outbreaks reported during that week, however there have been a total of eight outbreaks reported during the 2023-24 season starting August 27.
