It’s been called the Indy 500 for road workers.
A pair of drivers from southwestern Ontario are moving on to the provincial finals following yesterday’s regional road workers competition in Chatham.
Glen Harding from Public Works says maneuvering around the obstacle course takes speed and precision.
“It’s a very difficult course,” Harding says. “But it puts them through what they would experience on a daily basis when they’re out snowplowing and clearing roads for the public.”
Chris Stevens from Chatham-Kent was named the overall champion for our area. He will join Lasalle’s Steve Brush and 38 other drivers at today’s provincial competition, taking place at the Bradley Convention Centre.
