Charges have been laid following a disturbance at Chatham’s hospital.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Grand Avenue West at around 7:30 a.m. on Monday after a man became verbally aggressive with a security officer when he was asked to leave the property.  During the altercation, the man also made threatening gestures while shouting at the security officer.

Authorities said the man was under court-imposed conditions not to attend the hospital except for a medical emergency or a scheduled appointment.

Police located and arrested a suspect a short distance away.

A 50-year-old Chatham man is now charged with assault and failing to comply with a probation order. He was later released with an August court date.
