A Ridgetown woman is getting a helping hand on her way to a nursing career.

The Retired Teachers of Ontario scholarship program is awarding $3000 each to 20 students across the province to support their college or university education, preparing them for a career in education, environmental stewardship or seniors’ health and well-being.

One of this year’s recipients is Natalie Robinson on Ridgetown, who is in the nursing program at the University of Western in London.

Once she has completed two years of clinical practice as a registered nurse, Robinson plans to spend another two years in school to become a geriatric nurse practitioner in her hometown.

To apply for the scholarships, students had to describe how their studies and goals relate to RTOERO’s purpose, what influenced them to pursue their intended career and how their contributions to family, school, work, or community have aligned with RTO/ERO’s goal and values.
