Rules In Place For Holiday Hospital Visits

It’s never a good time to be in the hospital but the holidays can make it especially tough.

This year has been difficult enough when you add in the effects of the pandemic.

Lisa Northcott, the Chief Nursing Executive for the CKHA says visitation rules remain in place.

“ Anyone who is an in-patient at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is asked to identify one person in their life as what we call the care partner and that individual can visit with them on a daily basis from 10-am to 6 pm”.

Also if you are taking in food, they ask you wrap it up in individual containers.

Northcott asks that the care partner refrain from eating in the patients room.

“ We know that that is a time when people would have to remove their masks and that would really increase the chances of transmission of COVID if people were eating in small spaces without masks, so we are just asking care partners not to do that”.

As well if you are taking in gifts, to either deliver them yourselves, or you can leave them at the front door.
