Chatham-Kent Police want to make sure everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
Constable Doug Cowell says lots of people will be visiting family and friends over the next two weeks, which creates more traffic on area roads.
“A lot of people are fortunate enough to have vacation over the holidays and not working, but with the kids out on the road playing, the extra traffic volume, everybody needs to be a lot more careful,” Cowell says. “I know you get in that rush during the Christmas season and sometimes you have to go from house to house, so just plan ahead and give yourself extra time so you don’t feel that rush and you can make sure you’re driving safely.”
Cowell says motorists should also be keeping an eye out for kids on holiday, who may be too excited to pay attention to safety.
