Salvation Army Falls Short

The Chatham-Kent Salvation Army is confident it can meet the need, despite a shortfall in its annual fundraiser.

The organization’s Christmas Campaign, which is its major source of income for the year, came in $14,000 shy of its $500,000 goal.

Captain Karen Holland says they’re grateful for the community’s support.

“We don’t expect it to cut back on the services we give to the community. We see donations throughout the year that help, the money we make at the thrift stores helps. The Christmas campaign is the majority of our funds that keep us going throughout the year but we can’t foresee anything happening right now that would alter the services provide currently,” says Holland. “I want to make sure everybody knows how thankful we are for the help over the Christmas season,we couldn’t have done it without the community, the toy donations, food donations, the money, people who volunteered our time, it was all very necessary to help us do what we do.”

The kettle campaign was $3,000 over the goal. The shortfall came from the mail donation campaign.
