School Threat, Wrong Location

A case of mistaken identity and the power of the internet means a lot unnecessary worry for Chatham-Kent parents over the last few days.

A highschool in Cambridge was the focus of a social media threat a few days ago, and that warning was posted on a local ‘rant and rave’ facebook group.

Posters on that group confused the school in Cambridge for either WDSS or JMSS and police were required to investigate.

Both law enforcement and school officials say there is no need to worry.

Constable Renee Cowell states, “As with any threat to public safety, we are taking this photo very seriously.  I can assure everyone that we are working very diligently with school officials to ensure the safety and security of all students and teachers here in Chatham-Kent.  Established protocols and best practices will be followed to keep our community safe.”
