The St Clair Catholic District School Board is keeping the environment top of mind as it prepares for the future.

The English Catholic Board has presented its Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan, as required every five years by the Ministry of Education.

Officials say $19.5-million is being invested in energy efficient designs for new school builds in Chatham and Sarnia, and retrofitting of existing schools through 2023.

The report specifically mentions Holy Rosary Catholic School in Wyoming, which has a number of initiatives in place to keep staff and students thinking green, including reducing waste, used battery collections, planting trees, and scheduling guest speakers to talk about farming and water systems.
