School “Walk Ins” Planned Today

A couple of local schools are listed among those part in a province-wide protests against cuts to education.

Students, parents, and education workers at more than 700 schools province-wide have signed up to take part in “walk-ins”, gathering outside their respective schools this morning to protest cuts and celebrate the recent education workers agreement.

Among the local schools registered include McNaughton Avenue Public School in Chatham and Blenheim District High School, along with several others the Sarnia area.

The government is still in talks with several teachers unions to reach a deal on contracts that represent over 160,000 public-sector education workers in Ontario.
