Schools Drying Out in Tilbury

Students in Tilbury won’t be returning to school until at least October 1st

Tuesday’s storm wreaked havoc on the town, including Tilbury District High School and Tilbury Area Public School.

Brian McKay, Superintendent of Business at the LKDSB, says the main issue is flooding.

“Water did enter our building through drains – sink drains as well as floor drains,” McKay says. “It did flood some classrooms as well a the learning commons and library areas, as well as office areas.”

McKay says the clean-up is going well, and they’re working on drying everything out, including walls, flooring, and any furniture.

He says the drying process can take up to three days, and since Friday is a scheduled PA Day, the schools will remain closed until Monday.
