Ottawa has announced funding for disaster mitigation along the St Clair River and Lake Huron.
Officials say the money will be used to rehabilitate five structural and natural assets, helping to protect the shorelines from erosion while safeguarding residents of Sarnia and St. Clair from the dangers of high water levels and deteriorating retaining walls.
The federal government is chipping in $8 million through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund, and the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority is putting in $12.3 million.
