Local residents will be lacing up their running shoes this weekend in support of athletes with special needs.
Formerly known as the Torch Run for Special Olympics, the second annual Mike Currie Memorial is being held this Saturday, starting from Talbot Trail Place on John Street West in Blenheim at 9am.
Participants have several options, including a 5 or 10 kilometre walk or run. There will also be a 30 or 60 minute timed bike ride through Blenheim and the surrounding area. Those who are unable to attend in person are invited to take part in a virtual event and participate on their own time.
Last year’s event drew over 100 participants and raised more than $13,000.
All proceeds support Special Olympics Ontario.
