Ontario residents may soon be able to get a clearer idea of how much of their money is being spent on the province’s cap and trade program.
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton’s private members bill to have cap and trade costs outlined on natural gas bills has passed second reading.
“I believe that a little accountability and transparency would really help the public understand how bad of a mess the Ontario Liberals have got us into over the past 14 years,” McNaughton says, “and that this legislation is a common-sense solution.”
The Transparency in Gas Pricing Act now lies in the hands of the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs for further study.
