Sellers’ Market in CK

The local real estate market is running out of homes to sell – and buyers are getting competitive. real-estate

The Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors says that the average price of a home sold in Chatham-Kent last month was nearly $180,000 – up 16% from this time last year.

President Kristi Willder says the price jump is caused by demand.

“Due t the lack of inventory, the prices are going up,” she says. “There are still buyers out there that are looking to purchase, and in that the demand for houses is increasing the prices.”

Willder says she isn’t sure why the number of homes on the market is dropping, but that this trend is being seen across the province.

She says if you’re looking to sell, now’s the time to list.
