September Storm Caused $25,000 in Damage to Dresden Cemetery

Municipal officials have signed off on the cleanup bill following storm damage to the Dresden cemetery.

The storm hit on September 12th, uprooting trees and snapping branches, and toppling at least 24 monuments.

The next day, contractors and staff from Public Works began cleaning up the wreckage.

CK Tree Care in Wallaceburg was brought in to clear the area, and Sarnia’s Memorial Restorations fixed up the fallen and broken stones.

In all, the cost came in at just under $25,000, $24,702.24 to be exact, and will be taken into account in the municipality’s cemetery operating budget.
