Shed Fire Deemed Accidental

Damage is pegged at $30,000 after a fire in Wallaceburg.

Crews from Wallaceburg and Chatham were called to a home on Bruce Street just after 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, where they found heavy smoke coming from a large shed next to the house.

Officials say a propane-fired deep fryer was being used inside the building just before the blaze broke out.

“These type of appliances are to only be used outside, away from combustible materials and should be supervised at all times when in use,” the fire service says in a news release.

The cause of the fire has been listed as accidental.
