Shipley Responds To Reform

A local politician isn’t sorry to see the issue of electoral reform in Canada taken off the table.

The federal government announced yesterday that despite being one of its primary promises from the 2015 election campaign, it would no longer pursue the issue.

Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Bev Shipley says at the end of the day it wasn’t a change Canadians were interested in.

“What they need to focus on is how to keep Canada competitive and will they do to lower takes and create jobs in Canada?” says Shipley. “How are we going to compete and stay competitive with the U.S. market, considering the direction that government is going?”

Shipley believes scrapping electoral reform has shown Canadians that the Liberal government can’t be trusted to keep its promises.
