The Local Food Week initiative began yesterday as a way to encourage Ontarians to purchase local produce. Area farmer Joe Grootenboer says shopping local benefits everyone.
“Many of our consumers, many of the public, is catching on to importance of it, and of course the farmers,” says Grootenboer. “It’s a super benefit to be able to reach people locally, directly, as a farm like ours.”
Grootenboer is an organic farmer in Dresden and says his customers are looking for more local organic produce.
