A woman is facing several charges following a theft from a Chatham retail store.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the Queen Street store just before midnight on Thursday after a woman, who had previously been trespassed from the property, was seen stealing merchandise.
Authorities were able to identify a suspect who was then located and arrested. It was also learned that the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant for previous theft‑related offences.
As a result, a 49-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with two counts of theft, two counts of possession of stolen property, mischief, and assault with a weapon. She was later released from custody with a future court date.
