A Blenheim man is facing charges after allegedly trying to flee from police during a traffic stop.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said an officer on patrol spotted a vehicle on Fleming Street in Blenheim with an obstructed licence plate shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday.
The officer was able to identify the driver and learned that he was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle. While the vehicle was stopped at the intersection of James and Talbot Street West, the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the driver accelerated and fled west on Talbot Street.
Following a short pursuit, the vehicle was located, and the driver was arrested.
A 29-year-old Blenheim man is now charged with four counts of driving while prohibited, flight from police, failing to comply, and driving while suspended. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
