Should Council and the Mayor Get a Pay Raise?

councilchairMunicipal council members will debate about whether they should give themselves a raise

A report will be presented tonight on a citizen review of council compensation.

Among the recommendations – increasing the mayor’s pay to $103,000/year, up from just over $90,000 right now.

Council members, who currently receive a shade over $28,000/year, could have their honorarium bumped to $31,000.

Another recommendation would see the mayor be eligible for an ‘end of service’ transition honorarium, starting at $10,000 for one term.

If approved, the changes would go into effect when the next council is elected in 2018.
