The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has closed the book on allegations of sexual assault by a member of the Chatham-Kent Police Service, at least for now.
Following a compliant from a member of the public, the province’s independent police watchdog launched an investigation on September 8, 2025. However, SIU officials say despite multiple attempts, investigators were unable to arrange an interview with the complainant.
“In the absence of a fulsome statement from the complainant,” SIU spokesperson Kristy Denette said in an email to CKXS News, “there was insufficient evidentiary foundation to proceed with an investigation.”
The investigation was terminated on December 9th, however officials say every consideration will be given to re-opening the file should the accuser decide to come forward in the future.
