Smart Cities Meetings Scheduled

Local Indigenous communities and the municipality are teaming up for the Smart Cities Challenge. 

Launched by the federal government, the Smart Cities Challenge encourages communities across the country to find ways to improve quality of life through the use of technology.

The municipality, Delaware Nation at Moraviantown, and Walpole Island First Nation are teaming up for the competition which has three prizes of up to $50-million dollars.

They’re encouraging the community to participate as well, and a series of public meetings are scheduled throughout the region.

Wallaceburg’s session will be on March 29 from 7-9pm at the library – Walpole Island’s is this Thursday from 7-6 at the Governance Centre.

March 27 – Dresden Library, 7 pm to 8 pm

March 29 – Wallaceburg Library, 7 pm to 8 pm

March 31 – Bothwell Library, 10 am to 11 am

March 31 – Thamesville Library, 1 pm to 2 pm

April 4 – Chatham Library, 7 pm to 8 pm

The application deadline for the Smart Cities Challenge is April 24th.
